Terms and conditions
Last updated: 17 October 2026
These terms apply to the use of RankLantern, a service of RankLantern (KvK 77400089, Rodeweg 11, 9715 AW Groningen), hereinafter “we”. They apply between us and the organisation that takes out a subscription, hereinafter “the customer”. RankLantern is intended for business use.
1. The service
RankLantern helps the customer get found better on Google: with site audits, keyword research, writing articles with the help of AI, tracking positions and preparing articles (as drafts) in the customer's WordPress website. Which parts and quantities are included in the subscription is shown on the pricing page and in your account (for a custom arrangement: in the quote).
2. Account and access
- The customer gets their own workspace and only sees their own sites. The customer can invite colleagues as owner or as viewer.
- The customer keeps login details secret and lets us know immediately if someone else has gained access to them.
- The customer is responsible for what happens through their account.
3. Monthly limits
Each subscription has a monthly limit for, among other things, AI articles, images and searches. The limits start again on the 1st of every month. Whatever isn't used doesn't carry over. Once a limit is reached, that part works again from the 1st, or earlier after an upgrade of the subscription.
4. Prices and payment
- The subscription is paid monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment provider, by direct debit or credit card. You pay the first month when you sign up, then automatically every month on the same day. The invoice is in your account.
- Prices exclude VAT, unless stated otherwise. VAT is shown separately on the payment page and on the invoice.
- If a payment fails, Stripe tries again a few times and you get a message. If the payment still doesn't come in, we may suspend access until it's paid.
- If we work by invoice (for example with custom Managed), you pay that invoice within 14 days.
- We can change prices with at least 30 days' notice. If you don't agree, you can cancel as of the date of the change.
5. Term and cancellation
- The subscription runs per month and can be cancelled every month. You cancel yourself in your account under Subscription, through “Manage subscription”. Emailing hello@ranklantern.com is fine too.
- After cancelling, the subscription runs until the end of the period you've already paid for. You won't be billed after that. You get no refund for a current month.
- After the subscription ends you can still log in for 30 days and export your articles. After that we delete the data of your workspace, except what we're legally required to keep (such as invoices). Backups are overwritten after at most 14 days.
6. Content written by AI
- Articles, titles, descriptions and images are made with AI. They can contain mistakes. The customer checks the content before it's published.
- RankLantern puts articles in WordPress as a draft by default. The customer decides what goes online and is responsible for what's on their own website.
- The customer may use the content made freely. We claim no rights to the customer's content.
- We do our best for better findability, but we don't guarantee positions, visitors or revenue: those also depend on Google and on factors outside our control.
7. Connections with other services
The customer can connect RankLantern with WordPress and Google Search Console. With that, the customer gives us permission to post drafts and retrieve statistics on the customer's behalf. A connection can always be revoked. Those services' own terms also apply.
8. Availability
We do our best to keep RankLantern available at all times, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted operation. We do planned maintenance outside office hours as much as possible and announce it if it will be noticeable.
9. Liability
- Our liability is limited to the amount the customer paid us in the 3 months before the damage.
- We are not liable for indirect damage, such as lost revenue, missed opportunities or loss of positions in search engines.
- These limitations don't apply in case of intent or gross negligence on our part.
10. Ownership of the software
RankLantern itself (the software, the design and the way it works) remains ours. The customer gets a right of use for as long as the subscription runs. Misuse, such as getting around limits or attacking the service, is not allowed and can lead to access being closed.
11. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in our privacy statement. Where we process personal data on behalf of the customer, we conclude a data processing agreement; we make it available on request.
12. Changes and applicable law
We can change these terms. We announce important changes at least 30 days in advance. Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the district of Noord-Nederland.
